USA's Marks and Local Tahitian Vaast win Gold

In mostly inconsistent and small conditions at Teahupoo, Olympic medals were awarded for surfing's second Olympic run on the Island of Tahiti. Caroline Marks (USA) slipped by Tatiana Weston Webb (Brazil) to win Gold by earning the highest heat score of 7.5 with a barrel ride mid way through the heat. Tati came back with her sharp rail game and nearly got the score she needed in the dying moments of the heat but came up short taking home the Silver medal. France's Johanne Defay won Bronze defeating Costa Rica's Brisa Hennessy.

Australia's Jack Robinson couldn't find a final wave in his Gold Medal round against France's Kauli Vaast who used his local knowledge to bring Tahiti a Gold Medal. Brasil's Gabriel Medina defeated Alonso Correa(Peru) to earn a Bronze medal.
