Sophia Medina was selected to compete in the Vivo Rio Pro when Tyler Wright withdrew from the upcoming competition due to a foot injury. Sophia is the next highest ranking Brazilian competitor after Luana Silva who was added to the event last week. Sophia will compete in Saquarema with brother Gabriel Medina.
Taina Hinckel will also represent Brazil as a wildcard on the Women's side while Joao Chianca will return to competition after a quarter finals finish in Punta Roca.
The challenger series number one ranked men's surfer, Samuel Pupo, will be back in the Vivo Rio Pro where he has had success earning a Runner up finish in 2022 and a Quarter Finals finish at last year's event.
